A plain-English guide

What is Claude Code?

Claude Code is an AI coding agent made by Anthropic. It runs in a terminal on a computer. You tell it what you want in plain English, and it writes, edits, and runs real code in real project folders. It can build whole apps, fix bugs, and explain what it did.

What can Claude Code actually do?

Most AI chat tools give you snippets of code that you copy and paste somewhere yourself. Claude Code is different. It works inside a real project folder, on a real computer.

In practice, that means it can:

  • Build a project from scratch — files, folders, and all
  • Edit existing code and fix bugs
  • Run commands, like starting your app or installing what it needs
  • Read your files to understand what it is working with
  • Explain what it did, in plain English

It works step by step and shows you what it is doing as it goes. You can watch it work, answer its questions, and change direction at any time.

How does Claude Code work?

Claude Code is an AI agent — a program you talk to in plain language. It writes and runs the code for you.

It runs in a terminal: the plain text window on a computer where you type instructions. You type what you want, in ordinary sentences. The agent reads your request and works through it step by step.

Claude Code uses your Claude account. What it can do, and how much you can use it, depends on what your Anthropic account or plan includes. For current details, see Anthropic’s Claude Code page.

It runs on whatever computer it is installed on. That can be your own laptop, or a computer in the cloud. More on that below.

Do you need to know how to code?

No. You describe what you want in plain English, and the agent writes the code.

Two things do help. It helps to be comfortable trying things. And it helps to read what the agent tells you — Claude Code explains what it is doing as it works, and those explanations are how you stay in the loop.

The terminal can look unfamiliar at first. It is just a text window. You are typing sentences, not commands you have to memorize.

What are the ways to use Claude Code?

There are two common ways to use it. Both need a Claude account from Anthropic.

Cost
Install it on your own computer
Free, apart from your Claude account
Use a cloud computer such as Tireless
From $15 a month, plus your own Claude account
Setup
Install it on your own computer
You install it yourself. Good if you are comfortable installing developer tools
Use a cloud computer such as Tireless
Claude Code comes preinstalled. The cloud computer is typically ready in under two minutes
Where the agent works
Install it on your own computer
Directly on your machine
Use a cloud computer such as Tireless
On a separate computer, so mistakes stay off the machine you rely on
When you close your laptop
Install it on your own computer
Work stops when your laptop sleeps
Use a cloud computer such as Tireless
Work continues after the laptop closes
What you manage
Install it on your own computer
Everything — full control over your own setup
Use a cloud computer such as Tireless
Tireless manages the computer; you manage the project

Both are reasonable choices. If you are comfortable installing developer tools and mostly work at your desk, installing it yourself works well. If you would rather skip setup, or you want your projects to live somewhere other than your own machine, a cloud computer makes sense.

Common questions

Is Claude Code free?

Claude Code comes from Anthropic, and access depends on your Anthropic account or plan. Check Anthropic’s site for current details. If you run it on Tireless, the cloud computer costs from $15 a month; your Claude account is separate.

Is Claude Code the same as Claude?

No. Claude is the AI, and Claude Code is the coding agent built on it.

Do I need to install Claude Code?

Only if you run it on your own computer. On a cloud computer such as Tireless, Claude Code comes preinstalled.

Can Claude Code break my computer?

Claude Code works on whatever computer it runs on, so it can change files there. It shows you what it is doing, but mistakes can still happen. Keeping it on a separate cloud computer is one way people keep experiments away from the machine they rely on.

Who makes Claude Code?

Anthropic. Tireless is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic.

What other agents are like Claude Code?

Codex, OpenClaw, and Hermes are other AI coding agents. Tireless offers all of them alongside Claude Code. Which one suits you depends on your accounts and preferences.

How does Claude Code use my Claude account on Tireless?

You link your claude.ai account through an open-source connector; the code is public at github.com/Tireless-Coder/agent. Your Claude account stays yours.

Try Claude Code without installing anything

Tireless is a personal cloud computer with an AI coding agent preinstalled. You open it in your browser, link your Claude account, and start building. Plans start at $15 a month, and you can cancel anytime.
